• The Red Pyramid

The Red Pyramid or also known as the North Pyramid. With an original height of 105 m and a current height of 100 m, it is the largest necropolis of Dhaschur and is located 40 km south of Cairo. It is the 3 largest surviving pyramids. This Pyramid was built by Pharaoh Sneferu. He ruled over Egypt from 2613 BC. – 2589 BC It owes its name to the reddish color of the rock from which its unclad core was built.

The second Pyramid that this pharaoh had built was the Bent Pyramid. 2 km south is this pyramid. It is the second of the Great Pyramids of Dhaschur. It is notable for the fact that when it was built, its slope was drastically changed halfway.

From a distance about 2 km in Dhaschur you can also see the black pyramid (made of black mud bricks) of Sesostris III (12th Dynasty – Middle Kingdom).

It is hard to imagine that this pyramid was once about 75 m high and had a base length of 105 m.

Then proceed to the Step Pyramid of Saqqara.

• Djoser Step Pyramid at Saqqara

Djoser Step Pyramid at Saqqara of the ancient Egyptian king Djoser from the 3rd dynasty of the old Empire around 2650 BC is the oldest of the Egyptian pyramids. Djoser dropped during his 19- years of rule erected a monumental tomb that had never existed before.

Djoser Step Pyramid was built entirely of limestone. The burial chamber was built at a depth of 28 meters and consists of precisely hewn blocks of rose granite in four layers.
